I found an old marketing plan for a super-premium phone
I was browsing my old files this weekend when I found a presentation I made 3 years ago. I was preparing for Xiaomi interview at the time, and they had asked me to design a marketing plan for a super premium phone.
Xiaomi is known for its budget and affordable phones, which was a big departure for them to enter the premium phone range. The goal was to launch a phone that would compete with the other flagship phones on the market and become a “flagship killer.”
I shared the plan with the stakeholders and happily spent the next 2 years building the brand and generating revenues.
When I finally checked back in, I was surprised that many of my ideas had been used in the launch plan. I’m not claiming that any of my ideas were used in the final launch plan. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they were!
Of course, the smartphone industry has changed a lot in the past 3 years, so this plan is probably a little outdated. But it’s still a fun look back at my early days in marketing.
You might wonder, “What did I know about the smartphone industry back then?” Well, let me tell you, I was about as clueless
I had no idea about the smartphone industry, and chatGPT was in ideation at Microsoft files.
So, this plan might be a little dusty and outdated by now.
